Welcome to the Montville Public Schools Curriculum and Instruction page.  Our curriculum is more than just a sequence of lessons; it is a roadmap designed to prepare your child for a rapidly changing world. Led by the Assistant Superintendent, our district ensures that students have access to curricula that are aligned to standards as well as State and local policies and that every classroom experience is purposeful, high-quality, and inclusive.

We strive to graduate students who are not only academically proficient but also embody the tenets of our Vision of the Graduate: Empathetic, Perseverant, Inclusive, and Self-Aware. Through our interconnected approach to teaching and learning, we empower students to graduate poised to succeed in the 21st century world.

To ensure learners build a strong foundation, we utilize high-quality, research-based programs: In Literacy we use CKLA (Core Knowledge Language Arts) (K-5) and Into Reading (6-8) to develop deep background knowledge and strong reading skills.  Our robust mathematics programs include EMC² (EMC squared)(K-5) and Into Math (6-8), to foster mathematical thinking and problem-solving.  To track progress, monitor growth and provide timely support, we use DIBELS assessments as our universal screener for students in Grades K-8. DIBELS provides the specific data needed to drive our instructional decisions and tiered support.

At the high school level, students have access to a wide range of opportunities that support both college and career readiness. These include Advanced Placement (AP) courses, UConn Early College Experience (ECE) offerings, and dual enrollment pathways through Three Rivers Community College, allowing students to earn college credit while in high school. In addition, students may participate in our College and Career Preparation and Senior Internship program, providing real-world, hands-on experiences that help students build connections and apply their learning beyond the classroom. Montville High School also exposes students to Career Pathways through project-based learning, community partnerships, and authentic learning experiences. These pathways are designed to help students explore areas of interest, develop practical skills, and make meaningful connections between their learning and future goals.

Our office works with teachers, academic coaches, and administrators to bridge the gap between high standards and classroom success. We achieve this by: Developing dynamic curricula, using data to inform instruction, professional growth and strategic planning.  We are dedicated to fostering a cohesive educational experience where curriculum, instruction, and assessment work together to help every student thrive.
