Tyl Paraprofessional Selected as Paraprofessional of the Year
Posted 05/20/2019 12:09PM

Please congratulate Donna Wilson for being named the 2019-20 Paraprofessional of the Year for Montville Public Schools.

Donna graduated from UConn with a degree in speech and language. She began working in Montville in 1987 and was an assistant to the speech pathologist. Later she began working with reading specialists.

Donna is an exceptionally skilled reading paraprofessional. She is knowledgeable about reading development and how to provide direct instruction that focuses on students' needs.

She holds kids accountable, and helps motivate them. At the same time, she builds a strong rapport with students and many students don't want to leave their reading intervention program. Students come back to thank her for teaching them how to read better.

I feel very lucky to have Donna as part of the Tyl team.
