Course Descriptions:
Grade 8 Academic
This course is open to eighth grade students who want to get a head start on their high school world language career. This course is equivalent to Spanish 1 at the high school. It is considered an academic class (takes the place of writing) and meets every day.
Grade 8 Trimester
This course is open to 8th grade students who want to continue their studies of Spanish on an exploratory level. This year, students have input on the topics covered in their trimester as well as the day to day schedule of events. Each unit last two weeks and the class meets every day for an entire trimester.
Grade 7
This course is for seventh grade students. It is an exploratory level class. Students continue to review basic concepts and phrases learned in grades 2-6. Students will expand their understanding by learning about the cultures who speak Spanish, with focus on Spain and Mexico. Topics include(but are not limited to): travel, health and fitness. It meets the entire year every third day on a six day rotation.
Grade 6
This course is for sixth grade students. Students continue to review basic concepts and phrases learned in grades 2-5. Students will expand their understanding by learning about the cultures who speak Spanish, with focus on Spain and Mexico. Topics include (but are not limited to): school, the arts, and holidays. It meets the entire year every third day on a six day rotation. Students are graded on a high pass/pass/fail basis.
