Montville Board of Education 2012-13 Goals
Goal: To engage in a cycle of continuous improvement to ensure all students are educated with high standards and achieve at the highest levels of learning in the Montville Public Schools
Key Strategies:
- Raise community expectations for higher learning standards and promote partnerships in education and through outreach to the local business community, parents, community organizations, and town officials
- Inform the greater Montville community of education initiatives and actions through multiple communication channels
- Promote and support a positive and safe school climate for students and staff that ensures a rigorous and vibrant learning environment
- Stay informed of and support equal access to innovative technology that is used to transform teaching and learning
- Ensure broadband access to Internet and wireless connections to prepare for the administration of the Smarter Balance assessment and integrate technology in daily classroom instruction
- Attract, support and retain the best and brightest education professionals who are a good “fit” for Montville
- Maintain positive relationships with our school staff, both unaffiliated and organized labor collaboration
- Advocate for and consistently communicate the need for adequate school funding at the federal, state and local levels
- Support the budget to begin implementation of a high quality full-day kindergarten for all children in 2013-14
- Support the alignment of district curriculum and assessment to prepare students to meet the Common Core State Standards
- Promote the Montville Public Schools through a public relations plan
- Support the implementation of student support plans and processes in grades 6-12 to engage reluctant learners and encourage effort and focus
