Which students ride the bus?
Students who qualify for special education in the preschool program can receive free transportation to the program.
Can the bus pick up or drop off my child at daycare or a family member's house?
As long as the destination is within the boundaries of the town of Montville, the bus can pick up or drop off your child. For safety's sake, consistent pick up and drop off locations are preferred. Should a change be necessary, the bus garage needs at least 24 hours notice.
Is there an adult besides the driver on the bus?
Aides are assigned based on need. Not all buses have an aide on them.
Does the bus stop right at my house?
The bus will stop at a location near your house. Please call the bus garage for specific information about your child's stop.
What about car seats?
For children under four years old or forty pounds, the bus garage supplies car seats in vans and most buses. Parents are responsible for strapping/unstrapping students.
Can my ten year old meet the bus?
Only responsible adults can meet children for the bus. Violations of this rule risk DCF referral.
Can my child's older sibling ride on the bus?
Only children who qualify for special needs programming can ride on the bus.
What if I need for a friend or neighbor to meet my child at the bus?
Advance notice should be given to the bus garage and the bus driver.
What if I miss the bus when my child is being dropped off?
It is VERY important that you be available to pick up your child at drop off. Should you not be at the stop, your child might be returned to the school. Those who consistently miss the bus at drop off time risk DCF referral and/or loss of transportation services.
Can we wait in our house, on our porch, in our car, etc. for the bus?
When the bus arrives you and your child must be outside, waiting at the bus stop. If the bus waits for students to walk to it, get out of a car, etc., the bus will be late for its next pickups. Also, you need to be waiting at the bus stop for your child when the bus arrives for drop off.
