MONTVILLE HIGH SCHOOL

800 Old Colchester Road, Oakdale, CT 06370

Student population: 800 students, grades 9-12

It is a comprehensive high school, fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Montville High School offers a full range of academic classes, clubs, athletic teams, activities, and programs. Students may also choose from a variety of electives.

College level courses are offered through the Advanced Placement Program and the University of Connecticut Co-op Program. Additionally, students may enroll in the Three Rivers Community College Tech-Prep Program and earn up to fourteen college credits.

Montville High School adheres to a strong mission statement with clear expectations for learning. Guiding principles provide a detailed plan for students to be successful. Montville High School exhibits great pride in course offerings. Noteworthy accomplishments have been achieved by our marching band, chorus, drama club, and Academic Decathlon Team. Montville High School is committed to its mission of modeling responsibility, empowerment, and trust.



PALMER ACADEMY

Student population: 30 special education students, grades 9-12

Our mission is to ensure individual student success by providing a flexible educational environment to focus on academics while guiding students to become accountable for their behavior.

Our purpose is to prevent students from dropping out of school, to foster academic achievement in a small, supportive environment, and to equip students with the skills necessary to become a productive, competent adult. To achieve this end, students are given academic and behavioral assistance and are supported in their efforts to gain employment upon graduation.

 


 

LEONARD J. TYL MIDDLE SCHOOL

Student population: 740 students, grades 6-8

The mission of the middle school is to educate the whole child: intellectual, physical, emotional, social, cultural, and artistic. The school community encourages and challenges the child to strive for excellence in all these realms, and to foster an enduring love of learning.

Tyl Middle School has a curriculum based upon national standards and benchmark assessments. Learning styles are individual. Therefore, teachers assist students in developing strengths while improving upon areas of weakness. The curriculum fosters the growth of a positive work ethic, which is recognized and rewarded in all areas.

Building strong relationships with the community enhances the growth of all students. The school encourages open communication among students, school personnel, and parents. Parental support is valued as a vital resource in the education of children. The community of Leonard J. Tyl School creates an environment that enables its students to become productive members of a democratic society, fostering responsible citizenship in a culturally diverse nation.

 


 

DR. CHARLES E. MURPHY SCHOOL

Student population: 500 students, grades K-5

The mission of Dr. Charles E. Murphy School is to challenge each child to achieve their highest potential for personal growth and academic excellence within a safe and nurturing learning environment.

We encourage and promote the participation and involvement of parents and the community. We value open communication and teamwork to develop well-rounded, self-confident, and happy individuals. The development and education of our children are a mutual investment in the future.


 

 MOHEGAN SCHOOL

Student population: 500 students, grades K-5

Having a strong commitment to excellence in education, the school's goal is to encourage students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally in a supportive and nurturing environment. The faculty believes in a home-school partnership. We believe that parents who play an active role in their child's education will be more successful, confident, and have higher self-esteem. Staff members are there to educate the children and to help prepare them for their special place in the world.

Mohegan School has a commitment to foster character and values. Our "Hands Across Mohegan" banner hangs with pride for all to see.


 

OAKDALE SCHOOL

Student population: 450 students, grades Pre-K-5

The entire staff of Oakdale School is dedicated to providing optimal learning by ensuring a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for students. In this environment, the social, emotional, and physical needs of the children are met through a variety of activities that enrich students' lives. Oakdale strives to meet the individual needs of all students by providing educationally appropriate opportunities for learning. Through the encouragement of creativity and individuality, students learn to develop an appreciation for diversity.

The warm, friendly atmosphere at Oakdale School encourages strong home-school ties. Parents feel free to participate and volunteer in school. Open communication, flexibility, and staff responsiveness to needs, questions, and concerns foster a warm environment. At Oakdale, there is truly a feeling of cooperation, dedication, and camaraderie among all.
