COMSTOCK AWARD

One boy and one girl from each class are awarded the Comstock Award for academic improvement during the middle marking periods of the past school year.

JOYCE ECCLESTON POETRY AWARD

One student from each fifth grade class is awarded the Joyce Eccleston Poetry award, which honors a student who shows an interest in poetry.

THE MARTIN FITZPATRICK AWARD FOR GOOD CITIZENSHIP

Third grade students are eligible for this award if they meet and/or exceed the citizenship requirements. Students considered for this award must be cooperative, courteous, self-disciplined and eager to take on additional responsibilities within the classroom. In addition, students are to be well-rounded individuals, working up to academic potential, exhibit proper attitude towards friends, classmates and adults within the building.

THE MARTIN FITZPATRICK MATHEMATICS IMPROVEMENT AWARD

One student from each fourth grade class will be selected for this award if they meet the following criteria:

1. Work up to the ability level and show marked improvement in basic math skills over the entire school year

2. Demonstrate a consistent effort toward math improvement and exhibit proper attitude toward the study of mathematics and its application in life

GLASBRENNER SOCIAL STUDIES AWARD

One student from each fourth grade class is awarded the Glasbrenner Social Studies Award for excelling in the study of Montville and community history.

MONTVILLE MARVELS

During the monthly Board of Education meetings the Board recognizes students, staff and community members who have done an outstanding job in and for the Montville School System.

DR. CHARLES E. MURPHY AWARD

A yearly district-wide creative writing competition in which all fifth grade students compete.

MONTVILLE ROTARY MUSIC AWARD

Awarded to fifth grade students for outstanding effort and achievement in instrumental band and chorus participation.

PRESIDENTIAL ACADEMIC AWARD

Awarded to students for academic Achievement and Improvement over the past school year.

GOVERNOR'S PHYSICAL FITNESS AWARD

Awarded annually for outstanding performance on the Connecticut State Physical Fitness Assessment. This Assessment is a test for strength, endurance and flexibility.

PERFECT ATTENDANCE AWARD

Awarded to students who have missed one half of a day during the school year.

EMORY B. MERRILL AWARD

Awarded to one fifth grade boy and one 5th grade girl, who in the judgement of the teachers, best exemplify fairness, a quiet-patient manner, a sense of humor, tolerance and kindness to all at Oakdale School and beyond.
