For the last 13 years each February Montville business people, government officials, community members, and school workers have graciously taken their time to share their love of reading with the students in all three elementary schools. This program has given the students of Montville a chance to see adults from the “business world” in a capacity other than their normal jobs as fireman, policeman, or office worker.

The books for this program are purchased with donations from local businesses. Each volunteer spends about a forty five minutes of their time reading to a class a pre selected book. Then they discuss the book and or do an activity about the book with the class. The books are chosen by a team of teachers and librarians from all three elementary schools. Once books are chosen for each grade level a volunteer teacher makes up a sample lesson plan to go with the story being read. The readers have a chance to preview the book they will be reading and look over the sample lesson plan. The goal of this program has been to show children that no matter what you do in life reading is important and fun.
