Marching Band Reminder Letter

Due to construction at MHS, Marching Band Camp will be held at Tyl Middle School; all marching band members must report to the band room at Tyl Middle School by 1pm on Monday, August 11.

2008 Marching Band Schedule

Summer Percussion Clinics

• The marching band percussion staff will be holding clinics throughout the summer to teach students proper percussion technique and a variety of warm-ups that will be used throughout the fall
  
• Part assignments for the pit and drum line will be based directly on students’ performance and attendance at these clinics
  
• Clinics will be held every Wednesday from July 2 – August 6, 5:30-8pm. All rehearsals will be held outside, next to the football concession stands; students will not have access to the main school building

Summer Color Guard Rehearsal

• Color Guard will rehearse every Wednesday from July 16 - August 6, 5:30-8pm
  

• Practice flags will be passed out on July 16; weapons will be assigned during band camp

Marching Band Camp

• Monday – Friday, August 11-15, 18-22, 1-7pm
  
• Bring a dinner or arrange to have one dropped off at 4:00pm
  
• Wear sunscreen, sneakers and comfortable clothes
  
• Bring water
  
• The following forms must be handed in on the first day of band camp:
  o Music Department Medical & Permission Forms
  o Sports Health Record (requires a doctor’s signature; schedule your appointment now for a time that does not conflict with band camp)
  o State of Connecticut Health Form (10th graders only)
