Advice
to students who will attend College Fairs / Open Houses
Bring along two dozen abbreviated
profiles (or Address labels on index cards) and distribute them
to college representatives you choose to meet or from whom you
want to receive information.
Your profile (or label)
might contain; your name, address, city state, zip and telephone
numbers, the name of your secondary school and your date of graduation.
The profile may include your estimated class rank and your SAT
I & II scores (it is permissible to lump the SAT I scores
into one number, e.g. 900 or 1000.) You might mention three
or four activities in which you participate. This will enable
you to spend your time conversing with a representative rather
than filling our information cards.
Always request the representatives
professional (business) card. This will help you to maintain
a communication link should you have more questions or should
you decide to visit the college at a later date.

On Saturday, March 29th, we'll be holding the first of our two
Spring Open Houses. The day's program will include student-guided
walking tours of Mitchell's waterfront campus, bus tours of the
surrounding residential area, student and parent panels, and seminars
on student activities, admissions, financial aid, and Mitchell's
Division III athletics program. Faculty will conduct presentations
on each of our two and four-year degree programs as well as our
Thames Academy program. Of special note will be presentations
on our latest majors in Hospitality & Tourism, Environmental
Studies, Communications and Homeland Security. Individual interviews
by the admissions staff and faculty will also be offered throughout
the day.
Also, we're pleased to announce that an additional afternoon
track session has been added to the open house. The optional afternoon
track will focus on Mitchell's nationally recognized Learning
Resource Center program. Some of the areas included in the sessions
are: the transition to college; accessible technology, and academic
coaching for ADHD. The LRC, which recently celebrated its 25th
anniversary, offers three levels of graduated academic support
for students with documented learning disabilities and/or ADHD.
A brand new state of the art center is currently being built on
our campus - scheduled to open this May. We also broke ground
for a new suite-style residence hall - slated to be ready for
this fall.
A second Spring Open House will be held on Saturday,
April 26th.
To register for either one of the two open houses, please have
your students visit our website.
