Students need healthy meals to learn.

*WHAT'S FOR BREAKFAST AND LUNCH? Healthy food choices…
School breakfast and lunch follow National School Meal Program requirements.
Menus are sent home with students or check the web site at www.montvilleschools.org

J Students: please say your name to the cashier who checks a roster if
you prepaid for meals or are eligible for free or reduced rate meals.

*STUDENT BREAKFAST has 1⁄4 of a student’s daily nutrient needs served before class for $1.00 in elementary schools (TYL & MHS= $1.25 or free or a reduced rate of $.30 to students that qualify by completing a Family Meal Application.). Students may pay cash or prepay for meals. Breakfast includes milk, fruit or juice, with two grain/bread or protein and bread. Examples: Milk & Orange Juice with Bagel or Cereal Bowl & Animal Crackers,
or Yogurt & Graham Crackers with Banana & Milk

*STUDENT LUNCH =$2.00 in elementary schools ($2.25 at TYL & MHS or apply by Family Meal Application for Free or Reduced Price School Meals: reduced lunch= $0.40) Lunch provides 1/3 of a student's daily nutrient needs from 5 offered items: milk, nonfat, 2%, 1% or low fat chocolate or strawberry; meat/protein, grain or bread, with either two vegetables and/or fruit. Daily menu lunch +
"SUPER SACK" or Grinder Lunch: Sandwich w/fresh vegetables, fruit and milk or
"CHEF SALAD": Fresh vegetables & diced meat/egg or cheese, croutons/bread, fruit & milk
or “YOGURT&FRUIT+” meal w/veggie sticks, cheese, bread or crackers and milk

*HOW TO BUY LUNCH: Student’s may prepay in the café before class the first day of the week. Pay by cash or check to "Montville School Food Services", please list payment amount (ex: $15= 5 lunch+5breakfast for TJ Lee 1G. Note: Returned check charge is $15). At Mohegan, Dr. Charles E. Murphy, Oakdale, Leonard J. Tyl Middle (go to the “EASY PASS” line) and MHS students are checked off by name on a prepayment meal roster or pay the cashier.
*EXTRAS: Water bottle or a low fat frozen dessert= $.75 Vegetables and fruit are also sold.
Juice (4 oz.) or milk (8 oz.) =$.35 for nonfat, 2%, 1% or low fat chocolate or strawberry.


*HOW DO I APPLY FOR FREE OR REDUCED PRICED MEALS? Application forms will be sent home with students at school start up or get one at the office or café or online.
-If your child received free/reduced price meals last year they may continue to, but in September a NEWAPPLICATION FORM MUST BE FILED as soon as possible.
-Families on food stamps or TFA should send in their "DIRECT CERTIFICATION" letter from the Department of Social Services to the school food services director so your child may receive free meals or complete a Family Free/Reduced Meal Application.
