~ MONDAY EVENING CLASSES ~
#MC Chinese for Non-Native Speakers ~ NEW!!
This is a basic, introductory course in spoken Mandarin Chines for English
speakers. The course will be taught by a fellow English speaker who knows
where you’re coming from! Emphasis will be on the spoken language, with
lots of in-class pracice, highly useful statements, interactive question/answer
sessions, and fundamental grammar of the Chines language. No experience or
prior knowledge is necessary.

This introductory class will teach you some of the basics of this ancient
form of dance. Bring a scarf to tie around your hips and a sense of humor.

If you’ve taken some belly dance before and want to learn how to put
it all
together, this class will teach you how. Emphasis will be on transitioning
from one move to another, layering moves, and understanding how to create
your own choreography.

#TBW Basket Weaving ~
Come learn the lovely and useful art of basket weaving! Participants will
learn to make 2 baskets. First, they will create a traditional market basket
with flat reed. Different sizes of reed will be used to create individualized,
detailed patterns. The second basket will be a vase-shaped basket using a
combination of flat and round reed.

#TSB Spanish ~ Beginner Class ~
Come and learn another language! This introduction to Spanish will teach you
the basics. You will learn how to ask, and answer, simple questions. You will
also learn how to say simple phrases. No prior knowledge of Spanish is required.

No longer will you have to gues what people are talking about in your surroundings!
This is a relaxing, beginning level English class for survival in the United
States for folks from another country. Learn to listen, speak, read and write
in a series of fun-filled activities!

#WYO Moderate Level Hatha Yoga ~ Session #1 and/or Session #2
This class includes postures to increase flexibility, strength and vitality;
breathing practices to still the mind, improve concentration and reduce stress,
and deep relaxation to restore balance and rejuvenate. The hour and fifteen
minute class will include a short meditation at the end.
Please be sure to bring a comfortable pad, mat or towel for use on the floor.

#WMV The ABC’s of Maintaining your Vehicle ~ NEW!
A course for the uninformed! Learn whatyour car or truck requires for maintenance
to give good service without unnecessary cost. The course will cover tires,
general preventative maintenance, and basic repairs. Additional content will
be added based on class requests. Video presentation of selected materal will
be utilized to enhance the learning experience. The instructor is a Technology
Consultant for the State of Connecticut Technical High School System.

Using seed beads in different sizes, create a hollow spiral with a great feel.

#THPS PhotoShop CS3 – A Continuation (Part 2) NEW!
This class is designed to take the beginning PhotoShop user deeper into the
program. Open to those who took the class last semester, and to those who
have used PhotoShop in the past. Come learn more about this powerful image
editing program. You’ll never look at images and photos the same way!

#THC1 Play With Clay ~ Session I and/or Session II
Participants will be introduced to the basics of clay construction, while
designing their own projects. Clay construction involves slab, coil and pinch
methods, as well as successfully joining pieces of clay together. Projects
may be utilitarian, such as bowls and cups, as well as decorative, such as
sculpture. Join us and discover the joy of getting dirty constructively!
Note: There are 2 sessions of Play With Clay. You may enroll in one, both
or either!

Enrichment Program: This brochure describes the courses offered through the
Enrichment Program. Although many classes begin in September, starting dates
may occur later. Please read the course description for starting dates, times,
and number of sessions. If you are interested in any of the courses, or need
more information, please call the Adult Education Office at 848-8265. Personnel
will usually be available to answer your call or meet in person between 5:30
and 8:00 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays. If no one is available, please leave
a message on the machine and your call will be returned.
Mail-in registrations are accepted until 5 days prior to the start date of
each class. Courses fill quickly, so be sure to send your registration today!
Please be sure to include full payment to reserve your enrollment in class.
Enrollments are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Please Note:
Advanced registration is required. If you are registering late, you must call
the Adult Ed office to determine if space is still available. Thank you for
your help.
Please make checks payable to Montville Adult Education.
*Note regarding refunds: Refunds will be given ONLY for those classes that
are cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. You will be notified *only*
if you do not make the class list. Please plan to attend the first night scheduled,
unless otherwise notified.
Diploma Program: The Adult Education Program includes free High School diploma
and GED classes. For more information, please call the office at 848-8265.
Registration dates are January 8, 9 and 10, 2008, from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Classes
begin January 15, 2008.
Inclement Weather Notification: In the event of inclement weather, the Adult
Education classes for the evening may be cancelled. If school has been closed
for the day, or if there is an early dismissal of school due to inclement
weather, Adult Education classes will be cancelled. To determine whether your
class is cancelled for the evening, please listen to the following radio stations:
WICH, WCTY, WSUB, Q105 or WILI. Also, please check the bottom of the TV screen
on channels 3, 4, and 8 for notifications of cancellation.
