Dr. Charles E. Murphy Elementary School

Reading Hall of Fame

The Reading Hall of Fame program is designed to encourage our students to read quality literature for pleasure. In order for your child to become a member of Murphy School’s Reading Hall of Fame, he/she must fulfill reading requirements that vary by grade level. Your child will read Caldecott books, magazine articles, poetry and nonfiction books. Students in grades three through five will read Newbery and/or Nutmeg books as well. Modified requirements are utilized depending on individual student need.

Click here for a link to Caldecott, Newbery, and Nutmeg books.

Your child’s classroom teacher has sent home a form for you to complete. If you need another copy of the requirement form and reading log you can download them below. Simply click on the appropriate grade level and print the form.

Once your child has completed all the required reading, his/her picture will be displayed in the Reading Hall of Fame. All members of the Reading Hall of Fame will be recognized during the school announcements, and may receive awards such as a ribbon and certificate. All students completing the program will be recognized at the award ceremony at the end of the school year.

Happy Reading!
