Volunteers
Adult and student volunteers are a vital part of our program and perform a variety of tasks, which enhance the library program. Student volunteers may sign up at the beginning of the year. They must be fourth or fifth graders students in good standing. Students are assigned a particular day of the week and work from 8:30 to 8:55 in the morning. They bring up the computers, sharpen pencils, collect and check-in books, assist library patrons and much more. Students must sign in, be hard working and punctual. They may not serve if they are behind in their studies or if they misbehave.

Special Awards

One fifth grader is selected each year for the Josephine Smith Volunteer Award. This is awarded to the fifth grade student that is consistant, punctual and takes on additional responsibilities,

Adult Volunteers

Parents and adults from the community may also volunteer at the Murphy Library Media Center. Contact Mrs. Kane at the school for details.
