  Rationale for Physical Education
Fitness comes from being physically active. Being physically active comes from the enjoyment of activity, competence in skils, and confidence in self. Enjoyment, competence, and confidence come from quality physical education. In addition to physical education classes, students are encouraged to be physically active regularly at home
.

Jump Rope for Heart
Held the second Thursday in May, third, fourth and fifth graders are invited to participate in this important fundraiser for the American Heart Association. In addition to raising money for this important cause, your child will learn jump roping skills and the importance of physical activity and community service.
  Mile Makers
In the fall, students in the fourth and fifth grades are invited to join Mohegan Mile Makers. This jogging/walking program is offered twice a week in the morning before school. Each child tries to improve their personal best by recording the numbers of laps they have walked or jogged. A similar spring program meets weekly in May.
