Grade 3

Third Grade Mission Statement

Students will make a transition from primary based academics to an intermediate level of academics and instruction with an emphasis on increasing independence. The goal is that students will raise their level of responsibility and develop higher expectations for their own academic success. The instructional program in all curricula areas focuses on skills needed to attain proficiency on the Connecticut Mastery Test since third grade is the first exposure to this state assessment.

Everything I've learned, I've learned in the third grade.
  • How to play the recorder
  • How to be a "Magical Writer"
  • How "My very excellent mother just sent us nine pizzas," helps me to remember the names of the planets.
  • We read about a boy who tells stories, cats that fly, a woman who is deaf, blind, and mute, and Sarah, who is plain and tall.
  • How to multiply and divide
