Algebra begins with basic math skills and an introduction to algebraic concepts. Students begin with evaluating expressions, and properties or numbers, variables, and equations. Students work with and learn about integers, rational numbers, equations, inequalities, exponents, polynomials, linear equations, and graphing. After forming this algebraic base students move in rational expressions and equations, radical expressions and equations, ratios, function, quadratic equations, and an introduction to trigonometry. Using cooperative and independent instructional methods, students focus on conceptual understanding and application. Students are challenged to make the most of individual abilities and strengths.
