Welcome to the alternative high school program. We understand that this is a school "of choice" for those who attend here. We are pleased that students have made the decision and commitment to want to attend Montville Alternative High School. For many, it has made all the difference in their success.
We believe that we must work together to provide a safe, supportive environment that promotes teaching and learning. We have established clear guidelines for academic and social behavior and use discipline in a positive, supportive, logical and consistent manner.
Our goal is to prepare students for a high school diploma and for the challenges and responsibilities of adulthood. Integral to the program are activities that help students transition themselves from school to the workplace. Furthermore, we encourage the development of a variety of skills to help maintain a quality of life that enables each person to become a productive and contributing member of society.
There are no easy answers or quick fixes for the problems that many students face on a daily basis. Staff and students aim to perform in an atmosphere of mutal respect and dignity. The road to achieving one's goals is rarely an easy trip. We do not tolerate the use of drugs or alcohol; violence and threats have no place here, nor does prejudice. Our handbook should serve as a guide to help you understand policies and what is expected behaviorally. These policies and procedures are in place to support a safe and productive school environment.
Our doors are always open and we encourage you visit our program.
